The following sets out some of the things we do to support trusted research and research integrity at the Turing:
- We choose the partners that we work with by applying our Partnership Principles.
- We have a due diligence process in place and an Early Opportunity Jurisdictional Assessment Framework that we apply to international activities.
- We have a Policy Statement on UK Export Controls and a National Security & Investment Act Policy in place with related resources.
- The Turing’s Research Integrity Contractual Terms (PDF or Word version) apply to all of the Turing’s research activities unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- We have a Counter-Fraud, Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption Policy setting out the Turing’s zero-tolerance approach to fraud, theft, bribery and corruption, and our commitment to acting with integrity in all business dealings and relationships.
- We are aware of Universities UK’s Guidance entitled Managing Risks in Internationalisation: Security Related Issues.
- We have various resources available to Turing People on our internal digital estate to support them to make the right assessments and escalate matters to the appropriate decision makers as the case may be.
- We have a Risk Management Policy that we follow, a risk register and regular reviews of key corporate risks.
- We have a Research Ethics Policy (TREx) and associated tools, frameworks, and processes in place.
- We have a Research Misconduct Policy in place as well as a framework of other policies regarding how individuals may raise concerns. This includes a Whistleblowing/Raising Concerns Policy, a Bullying and Harassment Policy, Complaints Policy and a report and support platform.
- We have an Open Publication of Research Outputs: Policy Statement, as well as guidance on open access and open source information. We also have extensive materials relating to The Turing Way, highlighting the positive aspects of open research.
- We have a Safeguarding Policy setting forth the Turing’s commitment to developing a culture of safety when we work with children and vulnerable adults.
- We have an Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Policy in place as well as a related strategy and an active community that supports and progresses ED&I initiatives.
- We have a Data Protection Policy and related processes in place.
- We endeavour to foster a working culture that is open and we have our Turing Values which we actively strive to implement and live.
- We have our annual statement on research integrity aligned with the UK Concordat to Support Research Integrity, which the Turing endeavours to follow. We are aware of related international frameworks such as the World Conferences on Research Integrity (WCRI) Singapore Statement on Research Integrity and the WCRI Montreal Statement on Research Integrity in Cross-Boundary Research Collaborations.
- We conduct training and events both internally and externally on many aspects of research integrity and ethics. We have an internal essential training program which covers various aspects of research integrity as well as many other training and interest group opportunities.
- Corporate policies have a regular cycle of review and approval and we are always seeking to continuously improve our policies and processes.
