Introduction

This seminar will be led by Dr. Colin Irwin, an expert on public opinion, public diplomacy and peace processes. Dr. Irwin has over thirty years experience extended his work on ‘peace polls’ in Northern Ireland throughout the 1990’s in Macedonia in 2002, Bosnia and Herzegovina 2004, Serbia and Kosovo 2005, UK Muslims in 2006, Kashmir 2007, Israel and Palestine 2008, Sri Lanka 2009/10, Syria 2014 and Cyprus 2016/17. This work is reviewed in his book ‘The People’s Peace – Pax Populi, Pax Dei’ published in 2012.

About the event

This seminar will reflect on Dr. Irwin’s most recent collaboration with the organisation Remesh. Through working with Remesh, and its AI interface, Colin has developed highly sophisticated ways to advance our understanding of polling to bridge divides in post-conflict contexts. The seminar will reflect on this collaboration, and explore the potential of collaborating with tech specialists in the process of building and institutionalising peace.
