Introduction

As part of Theory and Method Challenge Fortnights 2024, the Turing welcomed a team of 12 international experts to collaborate and tackle foundational challenges in data science and AI. Join us over the afternoon of 7th February 2025 to hear about the 2024 challenge, its outputs and how you can engage in follow-up activity.

About the event

The event will provide an overview of the 2024 challenge, include short talks and panel discussion from challenge participants, a presentation of in-preparation paper outputs, as well as a call-to-action for participation via a planned invited Special Issue. We really want it to be a dynamic event, with plenty of exchange between presenters and participants.

This event is most appropriate and relevant to those with an interest and expertise in statistical modelling, interactive and exploratory data analysis, data visualization, data science engineering or applications of data science.

For those attending in-person, lunch will be provided from 12:45.

Agenda

  1. Introducing the 2024 challenge and reporting back
  2. Panel with TMCF participants (With lightning talks from Jo Wood, Rachel Franklin and Hadley Wickham)
  3. Introducing wide Data Analysis and call-to-action for invited special issue
