dsc Spend two intensive days with us designing data science solutions to real world challenges facing society today. Convinced that data science can change the world? So are we. The Alan Turing Institute is joining forces with the Office for National Statistics (ONS) Data Science Campus, to host our first policy-focused Data Dive. This Data Dive will have a particular focus on problems faced in an urban setting and data will be provided by the Satellite Applications Catapult, the Urban Big Data Centre and ONS. Places are limited, but accommodation and travel funding will be provided for successful applicants. Successful applicants will collaborate in interdisciplinary teams of six, to address one of the following three challenges... You will draw on all your data science skills to identify possible solutions, using a range of data sources provided by the Satellite Applications Catapult, the Urban Big Data Centre and ONS. The event will give you an opportunity to work with governmental stakeholders to explore how data science can help tackle problems faced by society today. It will also help you network with other data science researchers with a strong interest in using data science for public good. Food and drink will be provided throughout the week. For applicants based outside London, the Turing Institute and ONS Data Science Campus will also cover travel expenses and will provide accommodation in UCL’s John Dodgson House.
