The Alan Turing Institute announces AI UK 2025 lineup

Friday 17 Jan 2025

The Alan Turing Institute has today announced the first wave of speakers and panellists for AI UK 2025, the UK’s national showcase of data science and artificial intelligence.

The event, now in its 5th year, will bring together researchers, policymakers and industry experts to explore the latest developments in data science and AI research and discuss how it can be applied to today’s most pressing issues.

Taking place on March 17 and 18 in London, the showcase will feature keynote speeches from the UK’s Chief Scientific Adviser for National Security, Alex Van Someren, who will discuss AI’s role in national cyber security, and Charlotte Deane, a leading figure in structural bioinformatics, who will speak about the future of AI in sustainable research and innovation. Joining them are Andrew Fitzgibbon, Tania Duarte, Amanda Brock and many more eminent names still to come.

This year’s agenda features panel sessions with topics including how AI can tackle the growing problem of space debris, how businesses can boost AI skills outside of their technology teams, and the ethics of using autonomous technology in warfare.

Delegates can also visit the AI UK exhibition with interactive and hands-on scientific demonstrations from organisations including the Institute of Cancer Research, the British Antarctic Survey and the University of Bristol team from the Isambard-AI project. Visitors can interact with cutting-edge technology demonstrating the latest advancements and applications of data science and AI.

Across two stages over two days, panellists and attendees will bridge innovation, skills, and practical application of the technology in areas including national security, healthcare and the environment through panels discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities.

Chief Scientist at the Alan Turing Institute, Professor Mark Girolami, said: “This year’s event offers attendees the opportunity to immerse themselves in demonstrations, discussions and debates at a time when AI at the top of both the national and global political agenda. We’re looking forward to exploring how we can work together to ensure these technologies deliver real positive impact for society.”
