The Alan Turing Institute, the UK’s national institute for data science and artificial intelligence, is seeking to appoint a new Board of Trustees Chair.

The Chair will lead the Board to ensure the continued success of the Institute during this important stage of its development. The Institute is now six years into its rapid evolution, bringing together world-leading academic excellence, academia, industry, the government and the third sector on a national scale. With the recent release of the new national AI strategy this new opportunity comes at a crucial time.

This exciting appointment offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the continued development and success of the Institute. The Board Chair will provide guidance, support and constructive challenge to the Institute Director, and will serve as an excellent ambassador, advocate and influencer for the Institute nationally and on the global stage.

Current Board of Trustees Chair Howard Covington

The inaugural and current Chair, Howard Covington has steered the Institute through a period of incredible growth and impact by bringing his considerable experience of industry and finance to the Board. Howard has helped oversee the launch of a number of major partnerships with industry and the public and third sector. Now, after almost seven years at the helm, Howard intends to step down in Spring 2022.
