Further Turing AI Fellowship funding follows Chancellor announcement

Tuesday 25 Jan 2022

UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) will shortly announce a call for new Turing Artificial Intelligence (AI) World-Leading Researcher Fellows.

This further investment to double the number of Turing AI World-Leading Researcher Fellows was announced by Chancellor Rishi Sunak following the success of the first five fellows announced last year.

These prestigious fellowships will help to retain and attract some of the best international research talent in AI, as outlined in the National AI Strategy, with leaders and potential AI leaders able to apply for a Global Talent visa.

The fellowships, named after AI pioneer Alan Turing, are part of the UK’s commitment to further strengthen its position as a global leader in the field and increase the UK’s competitive advantage and capability in the field.

Delivered alongside the Turing AI World-Leading Researcher Fellows are 15 Turing AI Acceleration Fellows, by UKRI’s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and five Turing AI Fellows, delivered by The Alan Turing Institute.

A call for the five new fellows will be announced in spring 2022. Read the full story.
