The Alan Turing Institute is delighted to announce that Professor Katharine Robson Brown has been made an honorary fellow in recognition of her extensive contribution to the Turing.
Honorary Fellows are individuals who have contributed significantly to the promotion and objectives of the Turing and are awarded by our board of trustees.
Katharine is a Professor of Biological Anthropology and Engineering Mathematics, and Director of the Jean Golding Institute for Data Science and AI at the University of Bristol in the UK. As of March 2024, she has started a new role as Vice-President for Research, Innovation and Impact at University College Dublin.
Katharine has also served as the chair of our Research and Innovation Advisory Committee, which helped steer scientific direction at the Turing and supported the Institute through the development and consultation of our strategy.
This award recognises the notable contributions Katharine has made to the Turing in recent years and she joins a prestigious group of Honorary Fellows at the Turing.
Dr Doug Gurr, Chair of Board of Trustees, said:
“Katharine has been a strong advocate and advisor to the Institute for many years, and we’re pleased to recognise the outstanding contributions she has made to the growth and development of the Turing. A Turing Honorary Fellowship is the highest honour that the Institute can give to an individual and I’d like to extend my congratulations to Katharine for this well-deserved recognition.”
Professor Katharine Robson Brown said:
“It has been a great honour, over the past six years, to serve the Alan Turing Institute as Turing University Lead for the University of Bristol, Chair of the Research and Innovation Advisory Committee, and academic lead on the Research Strategy and Internationalisation Working Groups. The vision and energy of the Institute is inspirational and vital as we face the challenges of today's world.
“As I move into my new role at University College Dublin in Ireland I am looking forward to forging international partnerships which will help us achieve our shared mission to change the world for the better"
