Introduction

Through its programme of AI governance offers for Innovate UK BridgeAI, the Turing aims to equip UK businesses with the knowledge and tools necessary to develop and adopt AI responsibly. We provide expertise and capacity building around regulation, policy, and standards, enabling companies to innovate while adhering to best practices and complying with relevant regulations.

Our offers combine elements of research, training and capacity building – including through the AI Standards Hub.

Business applications of Artificial Intelligence: A framework to categorise AI use cases

The Innovate UK BridgeAI AI Use Case Framework is a foundational resource that aims to support responsible AI adoption by laying out in a clear and structured format the key information that organisations should consider when assessing the suitability of an AI use case.

The framework is an actionable tool that organisations can leverage to think strategically about how AI technologies can be operationalised in a business context, what is required to do so successfully, and what risks and challenges should be addressed as part of this process.

This project was funded by BridgeAI, delivered by The Alan Turing Institute, and supported by partners including Digital Catapult, STFC Hartree Centre and BSI.

Your insights are critical to evaluating and improving our work as we continue to develop this project in its second phase. You can share your thoughts through this form.

Business applications of Artificial Intelligence: Sector-specific briefing papers

To complement the AI Use Case Framework, we are publishing a series of four briefing papers. Each paper provides a concise analysis of key economic features, challenges to AI adoption, and five AI use cases in the four BridgeAI priority sectors:

  • Agriculture, forestry and fishing
  • Construction
  • Creative industries
  • Transportation and storage.

Understanding how companies use AI technologies, be it to support internal functions or to build better products and services, enables businesses that are considering embarking on the journey of AI adoption to think creatively about how AI can add value to their organisation. Building on this premise, this series of briefings aims to contribute to demystifying how businesses can use AI to be more competitive, sustainable, and productive.

AI Standards Hub

The AI Standards Hub is a collaborative platform dedicated to the advancement of knowledge, skills and research related to standards, governance structures and regulatory developments for AI technologies. The Hub’s online platform provides a wide range of interactive resources such as databases for AI standards, AI policy, and relevant research, and a suite of free-to-access e-learning modules.
