Bio

David is a PhD student in Computer Science at the University of Essex and a member of the Institute for Analytics and Data Science (IADS). He holds a BSc in Mechatronics from Tecnologico de Monterrey, Mexico, and an MSc in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Essex, United Kingdom. His master's dissertation focused on deep reinforcement learning for autonomous control of unmanned vehicles. Following his MSc, David gained valuable industry experience working as a Software Engineer and Machine Learning Engineer across the United States before returning to the University of Essex to pursue his PhD.

Research interests

David's research focuses on developing robust reinforcement learning algorithms for real-world applications (e.g., autonomous drone navigation). He aims to enhance the performance of autonomous systems by effectively training them in complex environments. His research involves bridging the gap between simulation-based training and real-world deployment, addressing challenges such as environmental uncertainties and disturbances.
