Rachel Pirie

Enrichment Student

Cohort year

Rachael is a 3rd year Chemistry PhD student at Newcastle University. Her research sits at the interface between chemistry, mathematics, and data science. She has primarily focused on the development of a new method to determine 3D shape-similarity between molecules for use in drug discovery. While at the Turing, she plans to investigate whether better outcomes can be reached by combining this new shape descriptor with machine learning. She would therefore be interested in collaborating with others working in the fields of cancer research or molecular design, as well as those from other areas working on machine learning for binary classification problems.
