Bio
Daan Crommelin is leader of the Scientific Computing research group at CWI, the Dutch national research institute for mathematics and computer science in Amsterdam. He also holds a position as professor at the Korteweg-de Vries Institute for Mathematics of the University of Amsterdam. He received his Ph.D. from Utrecht University in 2003 and worked as a postdoc at New York University before joining CWI in 2006. His research interests include multiscale systems, stochastic modeling, uncertainty quantification, rare event simulation and data-driven methods. Furthermore, he has a strong interest in applications in climate science and energy systems. He is on the editorial board of SIAM Multiscale Modeling & Simulation. He has been PI of several NWO-funded projects and is leading the CWI work in the H2020 project VECMA.
