Elizabeth is researcher at Brighton and Sussex Medical School and has a particular interest in understanding what happens in NHS general practice, especially in terms of mental health and dementia. She often uses anonymised GP patient records to understand what care patients are given and has a particular interest in the different picture of clinical care which is gained by looking at GP notes and letters, compared to clinical codes. She also interviews GPs and patients to understand the care given within general practice.  She is currently working on public engagement and ethical issues around the use of clinical free text from patient records being used in research for public benefit.
