Bio
Tom is a Research Engineer at Google DeepMind working on ML for weather forecasting in the Structured Intelligence team. Prior to this, he was a Data Scientist at the British Antarctic Survey AI Lab and funded by The Alan Turing Institute. In his research, he applies machine learning algorithms to large datasets from climate models, satellites and surface sensors, with an emphasis on developing tools that aid scientific understanding and our resilience to climate change. Tom's ongoing work includes sea ice forecasting with deep learning, automated ice core dating, downscaling climate variables, and sensor network design optimisation.
