Bio
Xixuan Zhu is a PhD student at the Institute of Cancer Research at the team of Integrative Genomic Analysis in Clinical Trials, within the Clinical Trials and Statistics Unit at The Institute of Cancer Research. He studied computer science for his undergraduate degree, but his interest in biology motivated him to pursue an interdisciplinary master’s degree in biomedical research. This exciting journey has led him to his current PhD study, which aims to (1) molecularly characterise oestrogen receptor positive human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 positive (ER+HER2+) breast cancer, and triple negative breast cancer; and (2) implement a Bayesian artificial intelligence system to predict the long-term survival and treatment responses for patients with these types of breast cancer.
He is part of the 2023/2024 Turing-Roche Partnership Community Scholar Scheme.
Turing-Roche Community Scholar Project
For the community project, Xixuan plans to produce a short film/documentary that focuses on the triangular relationship among patients, clinical trial teams, and translational researchers. The aim is to strengthen the connection among these three parties and make progress towards improving personalised clinical care.
