Bio

Alvaro Cabrejas Egea is a PhD Student in the MathSys CDT at the University of Warwick. Prior to that, he completed a degree in Aerospace Engineering (Aircrafts and Control) at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid in 2012, spent the period between 2013 and 2015 working in Airbus as a Stress and Fatigue Engineer. He obtained his MSc in Mathematics for Real World Systems at the University of Warwick in 2016. His research interests lie in applying machine learning methods for the development of intelligent systems, currently focusing on road and urban traffic. He is supervised by Colm Connaughton (Warwick) and Neil Walton (Manchester).

Research interests

Alvaro’s PhD is centred around Traffic modelling, prediction and control, using a variety of tools to create novel applications of machine learning and time series analysis. Currently he is using reinforcement learning to place little brains inside traffic lights, while attempting for them to optimize global flow and create dynamic green waves and corridors in urban traffic.
