Bio
Norbert Toth is a PhD student at the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Cambridge researching the potential applications of Machine Learning for studying igneous rocks. By combining state of the art machine learning models, built for various segmentation or general computer visions tasks, with traditional methods in the field he hopes to achieve more efficient and higher throughput analyses.
Research interests
At the Turing, Norbert hopes to gain more experience with smart ways of correlating multiple independently acquired datasets. He aims to find out about the methods used in areas such as remote sensing where this can be a native issue. Such methods can be highly valuable in hard rock geology where correlating between acquired 3D or 2D and even hyperspectral datasets is currently ignored.
