Fergus Cumming is Deputy Director of Advanced Analytics and Chief Economist of the UKHSA. During the pandemic, his teams led policy-relevant modelling at the Joint Biosecurity Centre that was the analytical bedrock of many of England’s non-pharmaceutical interventions, testing strategies and other Covid policies. Since becoming part of UKHSA, his multi-disciplinary teams are pivoting their focus to pandemic preparedness and non-Covid health threats.
Before turning to health, he worked at the Bank of England for just over a decade. He completed his DPhil in Economics at Nuffield College, Oxford and hold a BSc and MSc from the London School of Economics.
