Dr. Rachel Dugdale is a computer scientist with over 15 years of professional experience in a variety of research and leadership roles. Her work on machine learning has focused on feature engineering for computational efficiency, and training models in low-resource contexts. Her experience spans natural language processing, knowledge representation, privacy-enhancing technologies, and cyber security, with a focus on the interplay of technical, organisational, and human factors.
She founded Complexical in 2022 to apply scientific and technical approaches to better understand the impact of systemic inequalities in society, and develop effective and practical interventions, beginning with a project exploring lived experience of neurodiversity. In her spare time Rachel volunteers with autistic students in schools, offers mentoring to women who are starting out in technical careers, and sits on the board of two local charities.
