Sam Young

Sam is the Practice Manager for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at the Energy Systems Catapult. He is focused on maximising the energy sector’s ability to use AI to benefit society. His work ranges from cutting-edge research applying AI to specific energy problems, to leading cross-sector initiatives to identify and remove barriers to the effective use of AI. Sam started his career in Financial Services building models of both credit risk and long-term consumer behaviour. After developing expertise in using models to drive robust decision making, he then spent several years at National Grid establishing a Data Science capability within their Electricity Transmission business to drive improvements in asset management and outage planning.
