Thomas obtained a Bachelors Degree in the subject "Computational Life Sciences" at the University of Luebeck in 2015, continued with a Masters Degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Muenster before starting his PhD at the University of Cambridge. There he was located in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics as well as the Department of Radiology where he developed AI-based algorithms for CT image analysis. 

After graduation, he continued working the field of deep learning-based medical image analysis as a Research Scientist for the Hamburg-based SME jung diagnostics and the Department of Nuclear Medicine and Interventional Radiology at the University Hospital of Hamburg-Eppendorf.
