Bio
Kamal joined the Turing Institute in October 2020 as a Senior Research Associate in Safe and Ethical AI. Before that, Kamal was a Postdoctoral Researcher at EPFL working with Volkan Cevher. He completed his PhD in Computer Science at the Australian National University, working with Bob Williamson. Kamal was also attached to the Analytics program of Data61. He obtained his honours degree (B.Sc (Hons)) in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering at the University of Moratuwa.
Research interests
Kamal’s current research interests revolve around Reinforcement Learning and Imitation Learning. At the Turing, he will be focusing on the following two research avenues: (i) Robust and Fair Reinforcement/Imitation Learning, and (ii) Robust and Fair Representation Learning.
