Bharathram Ganapathisubramani is Professor of Experimental Fluid Mechanics at the
University of Southampton. He completed his PhD in Aerospace Engineering at the
University of Minnesota, then worked at University of Texas at Austin and Imperial College
London before moving to Southampton. His research takes an experimental approach to
examining fluid flows relevant to aerospace and maritime applications. His group combines
state-of-the-art experimental facilities and newly developed diagnostic methods to generate
high-fidelity experimental data that are then analysed and assimilated in innovative ways to
understand, predict, and control fluid flows. Current research projects are focussed on
aerodynamics and aeroacoustics of turbulent flows, biologically-inspired propulsion systems
and development of new flow control strategies.
