Eduardo Alonso is a Reader in Computing and Director of the Artificial Intelligence Research Centre CitAI at City, University of London. He earned his PhD in Philosophy at the University of the Basque Country, and moved to The University of York in 1996 as a Research Fellow. He joined City, University of London in 2001, where he has played several roles, including Head of the Department of Computer Science. Eduardo does basic and applied research in AI, and acted as vice-chair of The Society for the Study of Artificial Intelligence and Simulation of Behaviour (AISB).
Eduardo is particularly interested in deep learning, reinforcement learning and multi-agent systems, their mathematical and cognitive foundations and their application to health and wellbeing, renewable energies and the creative industries. He is also active in investigating responsible AI, and the ethical, legal and socio-economic challenges posed by AI.
