Korbinian Strimmer has been Professor of Statistics at the University of Manchester since 2017. Before he was Reader in Biostatistics at Imperial College London, Associate Professor in Medical Statistics and Bioinformatics at the University of Leipzig, and Emmy Noether Group Leader in Statistics at the University of Munich.


Research interests

Korbinian Strimmer is interested in complex statistical models and methods at interface of statistics, data science and machine learning, with application to high-dimensional data analysis in biology and medicine. He is a strong advocate of open source software and reproducible science. Correspondingly, he and his collaborators have published numerous biostatistics and bioinformatics software many of which are widely used.

Achievements and awards

Korbinian Strimmer has been included four times consecutively (in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017) in the ISI list of "Highly Cited Researchers" in the field of "Computer Science".
