Luis is a Senior Data Wrangler in the Turing’s Research Data Team, also known as the Data Wranglers, under Ann-Marie Mallon's leadership. The team's remit is to deliver research-ready data and making real world data available for analysis. By providing tools, standards, and processes for integrating and provisioning high quality data, the team directly addresses the challenges and bottlenecks in the provisioning and access to data for analytical projects.

Coupling a Biology background with Bioinformatics allowed Luis to pursue his interests in genetics, technology, computer and data science, resulting in an ability to easily work and communicate in both fields, and in being used to complex contexts and concepts.

Currently, Luis' interests cover data integration, development and promoting implementation of data standards and methodologies to ensure dataset's high-quality and completeness, and deployment of obstacle-free data life-cycles, from source to a research-ready format, and onwards to data reproducibility and FAIR-ness. As more data is available and used for ML/AI applications, there is a continued need to understand not only the developments in ML methodologies, but also its data requirements, and ensure suitable datasets are available and ready to use.
