Bio
Manolis is Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Analytics in Education at the UCL Knowledge Lab. He studied Mathematics at the University of Athens, Greece and has an MSc with distinction in Informatics and Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence in Education from the University of Edinburgh. Manolis was the Programme Lead for the Education and Technology MA until 2021 and one of the editors of the British Journal of Educational Technology.
Research interests
Manolis’ interest, experience, and research agenda bridge Artificial Intelligence, Human Computer Interaction and Learning Sciences to understand complex learning phenomena and design, create and evaluate supportive technologies for learning, teaching and research, i.e. digital environments that, through their design, support learners to understand abstract concepts and provide direct, individualised, and adaptive feedback; tools that utilise students’ digital traces in digital environments in order; to increase teachers’ awareness of the outcomes and processes involved in learning; or help us answer research questions and develop our understanding of the role of technology in learning.
