Rafael Perera is Professor of Medical Statistics in the Department of Primary Care Health Science at the University of Oxford. He did his first degree in Actuarial Science in the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) and his MSc and DPhil in Statistics at the University of Oxford.
Rafael's research interests lie in the use of tests (e.g. biomarkers, scores, signs and symptoms) for clinical decision making with a strong focus into primary care. He has been involved in understanding how these tests could be used for diagnosis, prognosis and monitoring. Within this paradigm, he is particularly interested in how information from electronic health records could be used to improve health care processes.
