Bio

Siraj Shaikh is a BridgeAI Independent Scientific Advisor at The Alan Turing Institute. He is a Professor in Systems Security at Swansea University. He has also been a RITICS Fellow in Security Economics of CNI (2023-24) and RAEng Industrial Fellow (2014-15) in automotive cybersecurity. He is currently also a member of the College of Experts, part of the Scientific Advisory Council, at Department for Transport (DfT). 

He is also a co-founder of CyberOwl, a maritime cyber risks analytics company. He also works closely with industry in various roles, including being the chair of the Research and Innovation SIG at AESIN, which is the representative body for automotive electronics in the UK. 

He has published over 100 papers, supervised over a dozen PhDs, and his research has been funded by UKRI, LRF, NCSC and MoD/DSTL amongst others.  
 

Research interests

His interests lie at the intersection of cybersecurity, systems engineering and aspects of security and safety assurance. His focus is predominantly on security assurance of transport systems, particularly automotive and maritime.
