Bio
Stephanie Cairns is a Research Assistant in the Turing’s public policy programme, focusing on AI Governance and Regulatory Innovation. She is currently helping the Turing roll out the AI Standards Hub, a project dedicated to knowledge sharing, capacity building, and research around AI standards. Her research interests centre around issues of AI ethics and policy, as analysed from both a technical and non-technical perspective.
Stephanie received her MSc in mathematics from McGill University, where her research focused on statistical and policy approaches to mitigating the harms of facial recognition technology. She holds a BSc in mathematics from the University of Prince Edward Island in Canada, where she was awarded the Governor General’s medal for achieving the highest academic standing in her graduating class. Prior to joining the Turing, she worked as a research and policy analyst at the Responsible AI Institute and previously completed an internship at the OECD.
