Bio

Varshita is a Data Scientist at The Alan Turing Institute’s Applied Research Centre (ARC). Her work is focused on the application of state-of-the-art deep-learning technology to problems within the defence and security sector.

She has a PhD in Learning Analytics from Simon Fraser University, Canada. Her doctoral work focused on developing AI solutions in the Ed-Tech sector for analysing learning strategies that capitalize on digital technologies. Prior to this, she earned an MSc in Computer Science from University of Oxford, U.K. and was awarded a Distinction for her dissertation in the field of HCI and visual analytics.

She also collaborated on the EU project, VALCRI, at Middlesex University, consulting on naturalistic user-studies and sense-making through big data modelling in criminal intelligence analysis.

Research interests

At the Turing, she works on applied problems within defence and security sector. The focus is on delivering proof-of-concept demonstrations that assists partners and stakeholders with their decision-making processes.
