The Alan Turing Institute, in partnership with Swansea University and the University of Edinburgh, plays a pivotal role in developing data standards, disseminating best practices, and fostering a vibrant community encompassing researchers, patients, and the wider public actively engaged in AI for multiple long-term conditions (MLTC) research.

In the ever-evolving realm of artificial intelligence (AI), the AI for Multiple Long-term Conditions (AIM) Community emerges to address the complexities of MLTC. Comprising eight research consortia, each with its distinct mission and expertise, the AIM Community is actively pioneering solutions to confront the intricate challenges inherent in MLTC. These consortia are supported by the Research Support Facility. Together, they form a cutting-edge network leading the charge in MLTC research. The RSF is part of a £23 million investment by the NIHR in AI for MLTC, to connect researchers across the consortia, to ensure the investment delivers long-term, real-world impact for the programme and beyond.

Under the leadership of Dr Kirstie Whitaker and our Theme Leads, the RSF serves as a critical enabler for the AIM Community. The RSF's primary mandate is to provide support and empowerment to the AIM consortia by embedding best practices in data security, standards, reproducibility, and public and patient engagement across the research collaborations funded by the AIM Programme.
