Setting up a Bank Account

A UK bank account will be needed to deposit your salary when working for a UK-based organisation. After getting a UK phone number, the next step is getting a UK Bank Account. Please see below for a quick overview on how to set one up.

To set-up a UK bank account you’ll need:

  • Be 18 or over
  • UK mobile number
  • Proof of identity (such as passport, driving license, or national identity card)
  • Proof of UK address (such as utility bill, rental contract, or council tax bill)
  • Personal details (such as name, date of birth, gender, marital status, nationality, and country of birth)

The Alan Turing Institute can issue a letter of proof of address (temporarily) to support you in setting up a UK Bank account if you don’t already have a UK address.

There are many different banks to choose from some exclusively online and others both online and with physical branches. Please make sure to do your research and find the bank that works best for you.
