The Centre for Emerging Technology and Security (CETaS) is looking for academic collaborators to work alongside CETaS research staff on a project that will focus on analysing nascent and future content moderation methods, including AI-based and privacy-enhancing technologies, to assist online platforms in fulfilling their new legal duties under the Online Safety Act (OSA). The research will look to understand what metrics can be used to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of content moderation methods, as well as measuring their impact on privacy. It will also explore the technical, policy and compliance requirements for implementing any promising capabilities identified, feeding into a series of policy recommendations for strengthening content moderation processes.
